The Sauce
The sauce is an element that can make or break your pizza. Whether you choose a marinara sauce, creamy white sauce, BBQ sauce, or your favorite pesto base, achieving balance is critical. To make a pizza sauce, use tomatoes, fresh herbs, and a hint of sugar (to combat the acidity) for a flavorful, balanced taste that pairs perfectly with your chosen toppings. Remember to season with salt, pepper, and spices to elevate the taste of your pizza. If you use a store-bought pizza sauce, find a decent marinara sauce and dress it up. I usually look for a sauce with only a few ingredients and make it my own. Recently, I’ve been using Michaels of Brooklyn. The sauce boasts six main ingredients, and it’s tasty. It’s pricey but tasty! You can also use it as pasta sauce if you have leftover marinara.
