Here’s my traditional recipe for making Mia’s Hawaiian Pizza (Mia’s Favorite)
Mia is my youngest daughter, and she’s a bit sassy but most definitely sweet. She loves a good Hawaiian pizza, and this one is her favorite. I make the pizza according to her taste, and sometimes, she loves the Vivolife mozzarella shreds (non-dairy). Other times, she loves a sweeter sauce and toppings.
Hawaiian Pizza Recipe
Ingredients;
- One made pizza dough (homemade)
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce or more if you like a more saucier pizza.
- One tbs of pineapple juice was added to the sauce for sweetness.
- 1 1/2 cups grated mozzarella cheese or plant-based mozzarella cheese (non-dairy)
- 1/2 cup diced pineapple ( from a can)
- 1/4 cup chopped ham or Canadian bacon
Optional: Red pepper flakes for a bit of heat and fresh basil leaves to garnish.
Instructions;
Preheat the Oven. Prepare your oven by preheating it to the temperature indicated on the pizza dough packaging or to 495°F
Prepare the Dough: For dough, roll it out on a floured surface according to your preferred thickness. I like to split my dough recipe in half. I prefer the thinner-style pizza. However, the whole dough is also delicious.
Spread the Sauce: Place the rolled-out dough on a pizza pan (cast iron is impressive). Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a border around the edges.
Add the Toppings. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the sauce. Next, scatter diced or chopped ham or Canadian bacon on the cheese layer.
If you prefer spiciness, sprinkle red pepper flakes on the pizza.
Cook the Pizza; Place the pizza in the oven. I’ve got an air fryer oven, so I air fry my pizza at 495 degrees for the pizza dough to get crispy, typically for about 8-10 minutes or until the crust turns golden brown and the cheese is nice and bubbly. I’ve noticed that on several occasions, the crust of the cast iron pizza pan was very soft, so I rebake the pizza on a steel pizza pan, and it crisps right up. I oversee it, though. I don’t want the pizza to burn.
Add Finishing Touches and Serve: Once the pizza is ready, take it out of the oven and cool for a minute or two. Optionally, you can enhance it with basil leaves for flavor and freshness. Cut the pizza into slices. Serve while hot.
Enjoy your pizza!
Tip: Feel free to personalize your pizza with toppings like bacon, red onions, bell peppers, or even jalapeños if you enjoy a bit of heat. Pizza’s charm lies in its adaptability, so don’t hesitate to experiment!
